Ameren Substation Proposal

This webpage has been dedicated as a resource for residents seeking information regarding the pending Ameren UE proposal involving the construction of an electrical substation on the 27.5 acre property along Dougherty Ferry Road known locally as the Janssen Farm.

  • July 2021 Newsletter Issue (Page 2) Letter from Mayor Becker explaining the City's preliminary interest in pursuing acquisition of the Janssen Farm. 
  • November 2021 Newsletter Issue (Page 2): Update from Mayor Becker advising that the City was unsuccessful in purchasing the Janssen Farm. The article further explains that AmerenUE is the apparent buyer under contract with intentions to construct an electrical substation at that location. 
  • December 2021 Newsletter Issue (Page 2): Message from Mayor Becker advising that no additional information has emerged regarding the pending substation proposal from Ameren. 
  • April 13, 2022: Staff received confirmation from the St. Louis Business Journal that Ameren Electric officially closed on the Janssen Farm for a purchase price of $7,200,000. 
  • June 2022 Newsletter Issue (Page 2) Update from Mayor Becker on the status of the property and its acquisition by Ameren UE.
