Firefighter-Paramedic 

Des Peres Department of Public Safety providing Police, Fire and EMS services to a community of 9,000.  Starting salary $54,063 to $60,407 depending on qualifications and experience including excellent fringe benefit package.  Successful applicant will NOT be cross-trained as a Police Officer. 

The Des Peres Department of Public Safety requires that applicants be at least 21 years of age and possess a current valid Missouri or National Registry Paramedic License.  Certifications of ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS, or equivalent, preferred but not mandatory at the time of application.  Applicants must be a graduate, or attending, the St. Louis County Fire Academy.  Prior firefighting experience is preferred but not mandatory.

 Selection process to include pre-applicant screening, oral interview panel, psychological exam, and pre-employment physical including full drug screen.

Police Officer/Public Safety Officer   

Des Peres Department of Public Safety providing Police, Fire and EMS services to a community of 9,000.  Starting salary is $51,360 to $59,013 depending on qualifications and experience including excellent fringe benefit package.  Successful applicant may be cross-trained as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and will be primarily assigned to patrol operations or the West County Center Detail (until fully trained). 

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and meet all statutory requirements for certification as a police officer in St. Louis County.  Prior experience as police officer not required but preferred.  EMT license and firefighter experience preferred but not mandatory at time of application.  

Selection process to include pre-applicant screening, preliminary interview, written examination, oral interview, psychological exam, interview with Director of Public Safety, and pre-employment physical including full drug screen.
