Concrete Street Replacement
Project Summary
Many of our older concrete streets consist of 5" of concrete on top of compacted soil. Due to the extensive failures of the existing pavement, the concrete street and underlying soil will be removed, and a new cross-section will be constructed, consisting of 4" of rock and 8" of concrete.  Slabs will be tied together using epoxy-coated steel rebars. Other than the cul-de-sacs, half the street will be removed and replaced at a time, to mitigate the effect of construction on homeowners.

Project Location and Schedule
Three streets are scheduled for complete concrete replacement this year: Belle Meade Road (east of Tricorn Lane), Briar Fork Court, and Lawnwood Drive.

Bids were opened on March 16th, and the low bidder was Spencer Contracting. The contract was approved by Board of Aldermen at their March 28th meeting.

The preconstruction meeting occurred on 8/17, and work began 9/12.  Spencer Contracting will be sending this mailing to all affected residents as the phases progress.

You may see colored paint and flags on the ground, which are the locations of underground utilities.

Project Update
The last of the concrete pours occurred on 10/20 and 10/21.  All streets will be reopened to traffic in approximately one week.  Spencer Contracting will also be backfilling and spreading grass seed prior to closing out the project.
