Street Slab Replacement
Project Summary
Each year, the City replaces approximately 150 concrete street slabs under contract.  City crews replace additional slabs on an emergency basis.  The City marks the locations to be removed and replaced, then the contractor performs the work.

Please note that neither the existing nor new concrete is "colored" concrete.  While there is some limestone-based concrete around the city, most of the concrete contains Meramec sand and gravel, which provides the orange/brown look.  While the new concrete initially appears to be a bright white, over time, the color mellows and the top layer of cement wears off, revealing the brown sand and gravel underneath.

Project Location and Schedule

Bids were opened on 5/3, and the low bidder was Holloran Contracting.  The contract was approved by the Board of Aldermen at their 5/23 meeting.

The preconstruction meeting occurred on 8/12, and work began on Ballas Trails Drive 9/12. The only remaining work Ballas Trails Drive and Ballas Park Drive is the curb ramps, which should be completed by 10/14. The maps below indicate the areas to be removed and replaced.  This letter was sent out to residents on Ballas Trails the week of 8/28.

Work on Ridgebrook Road began 10/17 and Ridgetree Lane will follow.  This letter was distributed to residents on 10/13.

Colored paint and flags on the ground are the locations of underground utilities.
